Description

This is a pair of headstones located about 5 meters south-west of the tower of the Church of St Leonard. The headstones date from the early 18th century and early 19th century and are made of slate. The southern headstone is rectangular and commemorates Francis Northey, who "departed this transitory Life by a most grievous scald" in 1807. It features a scratch moulded border and includes a personal two-stanza verse below the inscription. The northern headstone has a stepped head and commemorates Grace Oliver, who died in 1744, along with other members of the Oliver family. It is adorned with a stylized skull and leaf trails carved at the top.
