Description

Shamland’s outbuilding, located approximately 10 metres north of the main house (which is not included in the listing), is a 17th-century structure with an 18th-century barn extension. It is constructed from coursed and dressed slatestone rubble, with a gabled corrugated iron roof. A 17th-century chimney stack, finished in mid-19th century brick, is located on the left end. Originally a single-unit brewhouse, the building was extended in the 18th century. The front elevation features a double entrance leading to the barn, and a chamfered timber lintel over a doorway to the right of the 18th-century range. A stone lintel frames a 14th-century two-light wood-mullioned window with trefoiled heads, positioned on the left side. A further timber lintel sits above a doorway in the left gable end. Two 19th-century outshuts are situated at the rear of the left side, featuring corrugated iron and pantile roofs. Inside, the room to the left contains a boarded open fireplace.
