Description
The front wall with railings for Bideford and Torridge Hospital, originally built as a workhouse, dates from 1837 to 1839. The wall is primarily constructed of stone rubble, with curved entrance sections likely made of rendered brick. It is low overall, except for taller sections at the entrance ends, and features a chamfered coping. An iron railing with spearhead finials runs along the top of the wall. Each end of the two straight sections is marked by a square stone ashlar pier topped with a moulded cap.
