Description
Winscott is a small house dating from the early 18th century, with a mid to late 20th century addition. The building features rendered cob and rubble walls and has a gable-ended thatch roof, supported by two 20th century rubble gable-end stacks.
Originally, the house likely had a one-room plan heated by a fireplace at the right-hand end, with a 19th century lean-to added to the same end. A 20th century one-room extension has been constructed at the left-hand end.
The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical three-window front. The left-hand windows are part of the extension, which is slightly recessed. All windows are mid to late 20th century, featuring two-light ovolo-moulded wooden mullions. There is a thatch-roofed porch to the left of centre, with a 20th century plank door behind it. The first-floor windows have small gables above them, and there is a lean-to against the right-hand end.
Inside, there is an open fireplace with a rough wooden lintel, although the ceiling beams have been replaced.
