Description
Huntsdown Farmhouse is a house that likely has an 18th-century core with 19th-century remodelling. It is constructed from rendered, colourwashed cob on stone rubble footings and features a thatched roof with gables at both ends and stone stacks at the ends. The original layout probably consisted of two rooms with a through passage or cross passage, where the hall on the right is slightly larger than the left-hand room.
In the early 19th century, the passage was altered to include a stair and a small service room that was previously used as a dairy. Access from the hall to the left-hand heated room is provided through a passage in front of the stair and dairy. A lean-to structure may have been added to the rear right at the same time. The farmhouse has two storeys and a symmetrical three-window front, featuring a central gabled 20th-century porch.
The ground floor windows are late 19th-century or early 20th-century sashes with four panes, while the first-floor windows consist of three two-light casements with two panes per light, likely from the 20th century. Inside, there are 20th-century fireplaces, and the ground floor room on the right has a boxed-in ceiling beam.
