Description
Danns Cottage is a cottage dating from the early to mid 18th century, with a 19th-century addition. It is constructed of rendered cob and features a thatched roof made of wheat straw, which is hipped to the right. There is a rendered end stack and a rendered addition with a gable-ended roof covered in modern asbestos slate. The original 18th-century cottage faces south and has a larger principal room on the left with an integral end stack, and a smaller unheated room on the right. The entrance is roughly central, likely leading into the right-hand end of the larger room. The 19th-century addition is located to the left.
The exterior includes mid to late 19th-century two-light wooden casement windows, with three-light casements on the ground and first floors to the left, and a two-light casement on the first floor to the right. There is a central 19th-century boarded door framed in wood with beading, and a gabled rendered timber porch. A buttress is located to the right. The 19th-century addition to the right has a two-light wooden casement window and a modern glazed door. The right-hand end wall of the 18th-century part features a ground-floor two-light wooden casement, and the rear has a ground-floor two-light wooden casement along with a raking buttress. The interior has not been inspected.
