Description

Moreton Cottage is a house dating from the mid-19th century, built of large-scale stone rubble with a fish-scale red tiled roof and a rendered chimney. The house has an L-shaped plan, with an entrance porch set into the angle of the L. It is a single-storey building with a garret room. The design is in the Gothic style. Each of the three gable ends has a single window and features scalloped bargeboards, finials, and pendants. Most windows are arched with rough voussoirs, though the window facing the road is a canted bay with a red-tiled pent-roof. These windows contain three-paned wood casements, with the top panes arched in the Gothic style. The porch has matching bargeboards and a side window, and contains a plain doorway with a pointed arch, above which is a small, diamond-shaped window. The interior has not been inspected.
