Description
Pillhead House is a large house from the early 19th century. It features solid rendered walls and a hipped slate roof, with old red-brick chimneys. The building has a double-depth plan with a rear right wing and stands two storeys high, presenting a three-window range. The central doorway is framed by attached Doric columns and an entablature with a fluted frieze, leading to a four-panelled door where the top two panels are round-headed, accompanied by matching panelled reveals. The ground-storey windows consist of triple sashes with six over six panes flanked by one over one panes, while the upper storey windows have sashes with six over six panes. A boxed, fluted eaves cornice adds to the architectural detail, and similar windows are found in the side elevations. The interior has not been inspected.
