Description
The gate-piers and gates at the entrance to the drive to North Kenwood were originally associated with Oxton House and are designed to match the White Bridge. They date from around 1830 and are made of cast iron, likely by J Vickary of Exeter, whose stamp is found on the identical piers of the White Bridge. The design is in the Greek Revival style, featuring cast iron Doric fluted columns topped with vase finials. The iron gates have verticals that bend over into an overlapping design above the top rail. These gate-piers and gates were in a state of disrepair but have been re-erected by the owners of North Kenwood.
