Description

This is a road bridge over the mill leat, located about 200 meters northwest of Old Kate Bridge in Chudleigh. It was likely built in the early 19th century and is constructed from local grey limestone rubble. The bridge features a single span with a segmental arch and has parapets on either side. It is associated with a draw-door weir that helps regulate the flow of water. During floods, water is directed down a channel to the Kate Brook, and a sluice gate in the leat controls the water flow to a mill on Clifford Street.
