Description
Manor Farmhouse is a former farmhouse, likely dating from the 17th century, although it was extensively renovated and altered in the 1980s. The exterior is whitewashed, with rendered cob and stone rubble walls, a thatched roof (half-hipped at the left and gabled at the right), and slate roofing to a wing. A stack projects from the left end, and another lateral stack with a brick shaft is visible at the front. The original layout probably comprised three rooms and a through passage, with the lower end of the house to the right. The house has been extended to the right, and a former dairy, originally set at right angles to the front on the left side, has been incorporated into the house. The room heated by the lateral stack has been repartitioned. From the front, there is an asymmetrical facade with four window bays. A front door is positioned to the right of the centre, leading into the former passage. Windows are modern two-, three- and four-light casements. Inside, the house has been modernized, but the original passage remains, with a staircase likely dating from the 19th century inserted within it. Visible from upstairs, the roof features curved principals, probably of 17th-century origin. The property has group value with Manor Cottages.
