Description

Hele Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century or 17th century, and possibly even earlier. It features solid, roughcast walls and a steeply pitched hipped roof that is thatched with wheat reed. The left-hand gable wall has a projecting chimneystack, while the rear wall on the right-hand side has a large stack with an added red brick shaft. The house has a two-room plan with a lean-to projection at the rear on the left-hand side and stands two storeys high. The front has four windows, all of which are 20th-century small-paned wood casements. The doorway, located in the second bay from the right, has a 20th-century glazed door and a wooden porch. Although the interior was not inspected, the two main ground-storey rooms visible through the windows feature large open fireplaces with wooden lintels and heavy, old ceiling beams. The steep pitch of the roof suggests that the house may have an early roof structure.
