Description

The war memorial in Hennock is a mid-20th century structure made of rough hewn granite. It features a stone cross and shaft that rests on a tapering plinth, which is set on a roughly square base. The cross head is designed in the style of a Celtic wheel-headed cross. The plinth has lead lettering inscriptions that read: "In loving memory of the men of Hennock and Teign Village who gave their lives in the Great War. 1914-19" followed by eleven names. The shaft includes the inscription "1939-45:" with six names listed. This memorial serves as a poignant reminder of the local men who lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars, holding significant meaning for the community of Hennock.
