Description

The Old Gatehouse is a former lodge to Murley Grange, likely built in the late 19th century, around the same time as Murley Grange, which was demolished in 1987. The building is stuccoed, probably over stone rubble, and features a hipped slate roof with a central stack that has a round shaft. It has a roughly square plan, presumably consisting of four rooms around the central stack. The exterior is single-storey with a symmetrical three-bay front that includes a central front door flanked by casement windows, which have square-headed hoodmoulds. Similar windows are found on the right return and in a rear left addition. The interior has not been inspected. The building has group value with Nos 1 and 2 West Town Cottages.
