Description
School Cottage is a house, likely built in the late 16th century or 17th century, that was burnt out in 1983. Only the outer walls remain in the restored building. It is constructed of rendered stone or cob and features a thatched roof. The building has two storeys and is long, with a gable facing the street. The gable includes a projecting stack with set-offs and a rectangular projection with a slated pent roof, which is likely an oven. On the left side, there is a doorway with a four-panelled door, where the two lower panels are flush, and a wooden pent roof on brackets above it. On the right side, there is one window on each storey, both of which are 20th century with imitation leaded lights. The cottage is included for its group value.
