Description
A pair of gate piers and gates located approximately 180 meters to the south-west of Forde House, dating from the early 18th century. The gate piers are made of limestone ashlar and stand about 4 meters high, while the double wrought-iron gates reach a height of approximately 2.5 meters. Each gate pier features plinths, vermiculated panels on each side, richly-moulded cornices, and square convex-moulded caps that support large ball finials, with square horizontal vermiculated slabs at the center. The gates consist of plain square-section vertical rails and horizontal panels in the center adorned with scrolls. The two vertical panels at the center of each gate display intricate scroll designs, and the upper rails are decorated with pendant friezes.
