Description
The Water Conduit Head, located 29 meters west of the Church Tower in Torbryan, is a Grade II listed structure. It dates from the 18th century, or possibly earlier, and is currently used as a war memorial. This square building is constructed from stone rubble with a ribbon-pointed finish, featuring a projecting plinth and a pyramidical stone roof. The roof is topped with a stone finial, which may have been added later and is inscribed with the year 1771. On the east side, there is a small rectangular opening with a 19th-century plank door that has strap hinges. The west side has a projection that is now covered with cement, likely the original trough. Above this area, there are memorial tablets dedicated to those who died in the wars of 1914-1918 and 1939-1945. The conduit head is situated at a crossroads in the center of the village.
