Description
This is a house, likely dating from the 16th or 17th century. It is built of roughcast over stone rubble, with a painted gable wall, and has an asbestos slate roof. A large stone chimney stack with a tapered top and weatherings sits on the ridge, positioned off-centre to the left and directly above the front door. The house appears to have a rare three-room and baffle entry plan, unusual for Devon. It is two storeys high, featuring two widely-spaced windows on the second floor. A large 20th-century lean-to porch now stands in front of the doorway. The ground floor has one window to the left and two to the right. Most windows are 19th or early 20th-century wood casements. However, the two ground-floor windows on either side of the porch are horizontal sliding sashes with three panes. The gable end has two narrow openings and a larger central opening, all with 20th-century inserted lights. One two-light timber casement window with three panes and slate weathering is located on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected, but it is thought that early features may be present, potentially concealed beneath plaster.
