Description

Pitt Farmhouse, dating from the late 18th or early 19th century, is a stone farmhouse with roughcast walls and a slate roof, hipped at the right end. A rendered stack is located in the left gable end. The house is one room deep and two storeys high, with a garret. It has a three-window front. A C20 door is set within a moulded wood architrave and cornice, positioned between the right-hand windows. The windows are mostly 6-pane sashes, although those flanking the doorway on the ground storey have a 9-pane upper section and a 6-pane lower section. None of the windows have horns. Two hipped dormers are visible in the roof, each incorporating a 2-light casement window with 6 panes per light. Behind and to the left of the house is a group of farm buildings, including a barn with a horse engine house. A datestone inscribed “CP 1809” is present; it may have been re-set.
