Description
Milestone located on the south-east side of the old A38, approximately 40 metres north-east of Saddlecombe (formerly Holbrook) Farm Gate. This milestone dates from the early to mid 19th century and is made of a hard stone, likely not granite or limestone. It has an oblong shape with a rounded top that is slightly chamfered on the front edge. Both the top and sides feature horizontal tooling. The inscription carved on the front face, which was badly chipped in 1984, reads: "From Ashburton IV Miles."
