Description

A pair of houses, likely originating as a single dwelling, was probably built in the early to mid-19th century, with later additions to the rear. The houses have rendered walls, an asbestos-slated roof with overhanging eaves, and rendered brick chimney stacks in each gable. They are two storeys high, with a three-window front. A raised band sits at sill level in the second storey, and rusticated cement quoins mark the ends of the front elevation. Most of the windows are original eight-pane sashes with plain cement architraves. The doorway to number 12, believed to be the original front door, has a beaded wood architrave, a late 19th-century door, deeply recessed, with a narrow, patterned fanlight above. The doorway to number 13 and the window immediately to its left appear to be late 19th-century replacements; the door has been altered in the 20th century, and the window is a two-pane sash with horns. The rear wall retains two original eight-pane sash windows in the second storey. The interior remains unexamined. The buildings are included in the listing for their contribution to the group value of the area.
