Description

The granite plaque, dating from 1654, is set into the stone rubble retaining wall of a terrace of houses located immediately opposite the front of the guest house on East Street in Bovey Tracey. The plaque features a carved inscription in worn Roman capitals reading "TD : ED". It was reset in the wall, which was part of a terrace that was only partially built as of 1984. The houses and the retaining wall themselves are not included in the listing. The plaque is believed to have originated from a building that once stood on this site.
