Description
No. 4 Pye Corner is a cottage that dates from the 18th century or earlier. It is rendered, likely cob on stone rubble footings, and features a thatched roof with gabled ends. The building has a large, projecting rear lateral stack with a brick chimney. The plan is single depth with the front door located to the left, although the details of the interior layout were unclear during the survey in 1987 since the interior was not inspected. There is likely a slated outshut that is an addition to the original structure. The exterior consists of two storeys and has an asymmetrical front with three windows that have regular spacing. The front door, which is from the 20th century, is positioned to the right, and there are also 20th-century windows in enlarged openings. The interior has not been inspected, but there is exposed carpentry, and the roof may have features of interest. An interior inspection could lead to a reassessment of the building's date.
