Description

This is a pair of Tothill headstones located about 8 meters southeast of the south doorway of the Church of St Mary and St Martin in Chudleigh. They date from the late 18th century and are made of slate. Both headstones feature scalloped heads with decorative scrollwork. The northern headstone commemorates Nicholas Tothill, who died in 1771, while the southern headstone commemorates Ann Tothill, who died in 1766. The lettering on both headstones is well executed.
