Description

The Wilkins chest tomb is located in the easternmost bay of the south aisle of the Church of St Mary and St Martin in Chudleigh. This chest tomb dates from the late 18th century and is made of coursed grey limestone. It features an oversailing lid and bears an inscription commemorating Ambrose Wilkins, who was the master of the grammar school and died in 1771, along with other family members.
