Description
Gatcombe Mill is a cottage dating from the 17th to 18th century. It is constructed of stone rubble with a rendered front and features a thatched hipped roof with eyebrow eaves. The building has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys high, with a three-window range. The windows are 20th-century three-light casements with glazing bars set in original openings that have wooden lintels. There is a 20th-century ledged door located to the right of the centre. The cottage has large chimney stacks on the front south-west corner and the rear north-east corner, as well as another stack on the corner of the rear wing. Inside, you will find chamfered ceiling beams and joists, along with newel stairs and a section of plank and muntin partition. Adjacent to the east is a barn and linhay range located in the parish of Berry Pomeroy.
