Description

Coombe Cottage is a cottage dating from around the 16th century, with additions made in the 20th century. It is constructed from rendered and whitewashed stone rubble and features a thatched roof with gabled ends and eyebrow eaves. The building stands two storeys tall and has a three-window range, with 20th-century casements that include glazing bars. There is a 20th-century door located to the right of the centre, which is sheltered by a 20th-century open porch. Rendered chimney stacks are present at both gable ends. The thatch extends over a 20th-century garage extension at the east end and over a rear extension. Inside, the cottage has heavy timber planks and moulded studding in the cross-passage, with a doorway at the lower (west) end featuring a depressed arch and a shouldered arch leading to the back doorway of the cross-passage. There is a large plain timber fireplace bressummer at the lower end, along with a stopped and chamfered ceiling beam.
