Description
Ivy Cottage is a house that was formerly the Rectory, dating from the 17th to 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century and an extension added in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of rendered stone rubble and has an asbestos slate hipped roof. It stands two storeys high, with the original section on the right (south) featuring a three-window range. The early 19th-century windows are three-light casements with glazing bars. The central entrance has a fielded panel door flanked by narrow side-lights and a fanlight, all with glazing bars, and is sheltered by a wooden trellis porch.
At the rear, there are two early 19th-century wings with hipped roofs and casements that include margin panes. The north end features a mid-19th-century projecting cross-wing with two asymmetrical gables adorned with ornate pierced bargeboards, finials, and pendants. The windows have ovolo moulded wooden mullions set in chamfered openings with flat brick arches. There is a left-hand carriageway with a four-centred brick arch and double doors. A large rendered chimney stack with three diagonally set flues is positioned above, along with two additional rendered chimney stacks at the south end.
