Description
This gateway, located immediately north east of Bull and Bear Lodge, consists of a pair of gate piers, gates, and flanking railings that mark the entrance to the drive leading to the now-demolished Membland Hall. It was constructed in 1890. The gateway features large stone gate piers with granite bands, moulded bases, and large moulded caps. Atop the caps are sculpted figures of a bear and a bull, each holding shields; one shield displays the date, while the other features Lord Revelstoke's monogram. The ornate wrought iron gates are complemented by an overthrow, and the flanking quadrant railings end in small piers topped with moulded caps and ball finials.
