Description
The granary, located immediately northeast of Fallapit Farmhouse, dates from the early 19th century. It features a timber frame that is partly filled with brick, rendered, and slate hung, while the northeast end is reclad in corrugated asbestos. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, adorned with crested ridge-tiles and deep eaves that have a plastered soffit. The building is rectangular in shape and stands on six by three staddle stones.
This single-storey granary has a doorway towards the right side on the southeast, with a two-light window at the left end. On the northwest side, there is another doorway with a plank door to the left and a two-light window to the right. Additionally, there is a two-light window on the southwest end facing the farmhouse. The granary is elevated on 18 tapered round stone rubble staddles, each topped with a circular slate cap.
Inside, the floor is boarded, and the walls are plastered. The roof features sawn soft-wood collar and tie-beam trusses with pegged lap joints. The granary is positioned on high ground near the farmhouse, overlooking the farmyard. Fallapit Farm served as the home farm for Fallapit House.
