Description
Swallows Nest is a detached cottage, formerly two cottages, dating from the 17th or 18th century. It is constructed of painted rubble with a thatched roof. The main front, facing east, consists of two sections, with the roof slightly sloping down over the right end bay, which has a straight joint in the masonry to the larger section; it is set gable to the road. The building is two storeys high, featuring a 2-light casement window above a 3-light casement window, both with rough voussoirs, on the right side. To the left, there is a plank door with a glazed panel. The main front has three windows; the ground floor includes a 20th-century door on the far left, a second door centered between the upper windows, and two 2-light casements. The first floor has three 2-light casements, with the right-hand window on each floor set slightly lower. At the back, there is a central gabled wing with an end stack above a 2-light casement with a wooden lintel. The interior has not been inspected.
