Description
This building is a linhay or cart store, dating from the 18th century with some 19th-century elements. It is constructed of rubble stone, features some timber framing, and has a corrugated iron roof. The structure is small and has a hipped roof, with stone walling at the back and right side. The left side curves to form a section of wall facing the road, which includes an opening that is partly timber framed, with a horizontal board upper part and vertical stone slab orthostats below. There is a large plank door on the left. The left side, which faces a stream or mill leat, is also framed and has stone orthostats. The right end of the building has hinge pins that indicate a former gateway. The roof has a three-bay A-frame design. This small and somewhat mysterious structure is not directly associated with the nearby farm but is believed to have been used as a cart shed, reflecting the agricultural history of the small settlement.
