Description

Rypen Limekiln is a limekiln dating from the 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a string course set above a high pointed arch that leads to the flue. This limekiln is a complete surviving example. It is referenced in the work by V R Belsey and P Kelly titled "The farm kilns of Berry Pomeroy parish," included in W Minchinton's edited volume, "A Limekiln Miscellany," published in 1985.
