Description

Newmill Bridge is a road bridge over the River Avon, built in the 18th century. It is constructed from slatestone rubble with granite coping. The bridge was originally part of the main road from Loddiswell to Kingsbridge until the Turnpike road was established, which took over the route to New Bridge. In 1905, repairs were made, including the addition of iron ties. The bridge features two segmental arches with triangular cutwaters, flush voussoirs, and square section on-edge granite coping with regular vertical through-stones.
