Description

The Quay, Nos. 1-7, is a terrace of houses likely dating from the early to mid 19th century. Nos. 1, 2, and 3 form a three-window range, two storeys and with an attic. The front is stucco lined and painted, with a first-floor band and six windows at the first floor, including a three-light casement dormer. A single-storey wing extends to the left, featuring two casement windows. There are two entrances, decorated with enriched consoles; Nos. 1 and 2 have fanlights with glazing bars, while No. 3 has a glazed porch. The roofs are slate. Nos. 4 (Shangrila), 5, 6, and 7 are constructed of local stone with red brick cambered heads to the entrances and have six windows. These are also two storeys high, although No. 5 features a glazed wood gabled porch. The windows have exposed frames, except at No. 6, where the first-floor casements have been altered to be canted. A former entrance to No. 6 has been replaced with a casement window. No. 7 is rendered and lined. The buildings, Nos. 1-7, are considered to form a group.
