Description

This listing covers three structures associated with Batson Hall Farmhouse: an ancillary bake house and former prison, and a cyder pound. The bake house and former prison likely date from the 17th century or earlier. These are two-storey stone buildings with modern roofs and casement windows, exhibiting no immediately noticeable special features. The bake house contains a domed oven and a small cavity at a low level. Adjacent to the bake house is a former lock-up or prison, featuring a rectangular opening with wooden bars and a destroyed roof. A disused cyder pound, which was formerly powered by a horse-driven mechanism and includes a wood-cogged wheel, is also present. The cyder pound has no roof. These structures are situated on the site of the former manor house.
