Description

Blue Coat House, located at No 10 Cistern Street, dates from around 1733 and was originally the Blue Coat School, which was founded around 1732 and moved into this building in 1734. The front of the building was altered in the early 19th century. It is three storeys high and has two windows. The roof is hipped and covered with Welsh slate, while the second floor is slate hung and the lower floors are rendered. The first and second floors feature early 19th century sash windows with architraves and glazing bars. The ground floor has original three-light casement windows with timber lintels that are now masked, along with modern shutters. There are recessed doorways with panelled doors.
