Description
Manor Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse with a 20th-century addition. It features coursed and squared slate stone rubble walls, with the left-hand end wall being slate hung, and a hipped slate roof. The building has two brick axial stacks and a rendered brick stack at the left-hand end. The layout consists of what appears to be four rooms in the main range, with a central entrance and stair hall, and a service wing at the right-hand end.
The exterior is two storeys with an attic, presenting a symmetrical five-window front of early 19th-century 12-pane sashes. The ground floor windows are topped with stone flat voussoir arches, while the first-floor windows have brick arches above them. A flat string course runs between the storeys. The original panelled double doors are centrally located and topped with a flat hood supported by shaped wooden brackets. There is a moulded wooden eaves cornice and a dormer window in the roof at the left-hand end. The right-hand end wall features an 18th-century two-panel door with a flat hood above.
The interior was inaccessible during the survey but is known to contain fairly complete 18th-century joinery. The house has seen little alteration in the 20th century and maintains a very traditional appearance.
