Description
Rowden Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from 1884, situated on the former Revelstoke estate. It was likely designed by George Devey's office and bears a monogram, ECB. The house is constructed of slate rubble with yellow brick dressings, and has a scantle slate roof with gabled and half-hipped ends, featuring pierced ridge tiles and a wrought iron weathervane at the roof intersection. The design is cruciform and asymmetrical. The farmhouse has two storeys. Windows are wooden mullion-transom windows with leaded panes. It includes a hipped porch, supported by chamfered wooden posts, set in an angle, with a slender brick chimney stack above. External stacks are present on the side walls, including one featuring a tablet displaying the date and monogram, and large yellow brick shafts. Other features include half-hipped dormers, and a pentice hood in the south gable.
