Description
This pair of gate piers and gate, located about 100 metres southeast of Black Hall, dates from the mid-19th century. The gate piers are made of granite and are monolithic, square in shape, topped with granite caps that feature concave necking and ball finials. The wrought iron gate is corbelled and has seven rails that are spaced progressively wider towards the top. The stiles curve over the top rail to create scrolls, and the top rail is adorned with a scrolled cresting at the centre, which includes a cast iron anthelion. The curved braces also feature scrolls where they meet at the centre.
