Description
This obelisk, located approximately 800 metres west of Tapeley Park House, was built in the mid-19th century. It features a square stone rubble base with battered walls and projecting corner buttresses. The top is finished with granite coping and has a stepped ashlar base that once supported a needle, which was destroyed by lightning in 1933. The obelisk was erected in memory of Archibald Cleveland, who was killed in the Crimea on 6th November 1854.
