Description
This building is a shippon, which includes an adjoining root store and bullock shed, located 5 metres northwest of Buckland Manor House. The shippon dates from 1660, as indicated by a datestone on the lower gable end, while the root store and bullock shed are likely from the 18th century. All three structures underwent alterations and repairs in the 1980s.
The shippon is constructed of rubble with upper sections made of cob, and it has a pantiled roof. It features a large inserted metal door and two ventilation slits. Although the loft floor has been removed, four trusses remain, complete with collars and purlins. The root store has a pantiled lean-to roof at the front, which includes large cart openings on either side. The bullock shed, which extends at a right angle from the upper end of the front wall, is supported by three round rubble piers, creating an L-shaped group with the other structures.
