Description
This is a 19th-century limekiln located approximately 10 metres north of the disused railway track on the west bank of the entry to Fremington Pill Estuary. It is constructed from stone rubble and features an interior brick lining. The structure is square in shape and has two large buttresses at the front. There is access to a brick-lined well with firing holes around the base, which can be reached via a rear passage that has an entrance on the left side. This limekiln is built into the bank of Fremington Pill Estuary and is noted as the best preserved of the three limekilns found on this west bank.
