Description
The summer house and terrace, located approximately 80 metres north of Roborough House, is a rustic timber structure dating from the late 19th century. It features a conical roof thatched with wheat-reed, supported by tree branch uprights with bark. The front of the summer house has three open bays, while the back is filled with halved branch ribs and infill that creates a fanned vaulting pattern, supported by small rustic branch brackets. A bench made of rustic timber posts runs along the back wall, with a central table on a single post. The summer house is positioned in front of a terrace, which has a rounded retaining wall made of shale rubble, featuring a four-centred arch opening and narrow slits on either side that resemble a ruin. The interior is brick-vaulted and lined. This structure is one of several elements that contribute to the landscaped garden surrounding Roborough House.
