Description

The Bath House, also known as the Tunnel Baths, is a former bath house constructed in 1836. It is built of stucco, channelled to resemble ashlar. The building is single-storeyed and has four windows. A central entrance is distinguished by a portico in the Greek Doric style, with a distyle in antis design, and a doorway with a moulded case and an overlight above double panelled doors. Twelve-pane hornless sash windows are located on either side of the entrance. The building is finished with a cornice and parapet. The interior has not been inspected. Originally part of the developing resort, The Bath House provided hot and cold baths. It forms a group with Runnymede, The Baths House, the entrance to the tunnels, pool, and beaches, numbers 1-3 Bath Place, and numbers 2 and 3 Wilder Road.
