Description

This is a headstone located approximately 9 metres south-west of the south corner of the west tower of the Church of St Peter in Westleigh. It dates from 1829 and was made by Sanders of Westleigh. The headstone commemorates Denis Stevens, who died in 1829 at the age of 37. The inscription includes a verse that reads: "Dear wife and child forbear to weep whilest sweetly in the dust I sleep This toilsome world I've left behind Hoping a heavenly crown to find."
