Description
This is a group of three chest tombs located 0.5 to 3 metres south-east of the south-east corner of the south porch of the Church of St. Peter. They date from the late 18th century to the mid 19th century and are built on brick plinths topped with slate slabs.
The tombs commemorate John White, who died in 1825, and his family, created by Facey of Combe Martin. They feature urns and angel busts alongside a depiction of a hand holding a knife to a felled tree. Another tomb is dedicated to Prudence Watts, who died in 1843, and her children, with urns flanking an angel figure blowing a trumpet. The third tomb is for Prudence Narcott, who died in 1796, along with other family members.
