Description
The lych gate to the Church of St Peter is a structure that possibly dates from the 17th century but was rebuilt in the 19th century. It features stone rubble walls that support a cruciform gabled slate roof. The front gable has decorative bargeboards and includes a stone plaque inscribed with the date March 13, 1677, along with the names George Westcott, Rector, and Thomas Tucker and John Reed, Churchwardens. Inside, there are chamfered timber tie-beams, and the cross-frame has bar-stopped chamfered uprights. The timber gates are panelled at the base and pierced with trefoils, with the upper part cross-framed to create nine open square panels on each gate. In front of the gate, there is a flight of pebbled stone steps.
