Description
The garden wall and retaining wall adjoining Burch Farmhouse to the south are likely from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The garden wall is made of coursed stone rubble, while the retaining wall is constructed from uncoursed sandstone. The curved garden wall is located at the left-hand end of the three-bay front of Burch Farmhouse, screening the former service end and enclosing the left side of the front lawn. The wall curves around as a retaining wall at the front of the lawn. There is a boarded door in the garden wall with a concrete lintel, which is probably a 20th-century addition. To the right of this door, there is a blocked former doorway indicated by straight joints. The wall slopes down to the left and features a buttress at the rear.
