Description

Brook House is a house dating from circa 1840, situated on the north side of St Mary’s Road, Georgeham. The exterior is of whitewashed roughcast rendered rubble, possibly with some cob construction. The roof is covered with asbestos tiles, previously thatched, and features rendered brick stacks at each gable end. The house is arranged symmetrically with a planned three-window front. It has two storeys with a symmetrical facade. The windows are hornless sashes; the upper floor windows are 8 over 8 panes, while the ground floor windows are mostly 8 over 8 panes. The central window on the ground floor is a 6 over 6 pane sash above a 6-panelled door, with a glazed porch and narrow overlight above. A 20th-century wooden canopy and timber supports are present. Slate hanging is visible at the left gable end. The building is included on the list for group value.
